Retreats: Renew & Restore

Umano: Strategic Planning

The importance of taking time away from day-to-day work is essential for both reflection and planning ahead. Our first out-of-state client, Umano, flew in from LA for a three day workshop recently to do just this. At Collectivity, we help nonprofits think through big questions of purpose, desired future, success metrics, and theory of change to form strategies bringing their goals to fruition. Through whiteboard sessions, guest presenters joining us via Zoom, and great conversations, Umano formed a new mission, vision, theory of change, and prioritized the next steps toward implementation. We are excited to help launch a pilot for Umano 2.0!

The thing that struck us the most was [Collectivity’s] ability to listen. They have excellent skills in understanding and processing what is fundamental to their client. They can help dig into why [the discovery process] is crucial and how they can assist the client process it. Allowing us to discuss our internal conflicts and choices has helped us make some tough decisions. What else can you ask from a consulting partner?

Project for Pride in Living: Planning for the future

Another client, Project for Pride & Living’s Career Readiness division (PPL), is also taking time to grapple with the fascinating question of what the future of work looks like for each of their various program areas in this new era post-2020 (see our recent Trista Harris’ interview here). Through facilitated discussions around its ‘current state’, PPL gained new insights around what’s working and how it can renew itself to thrive. We look forward to our next set of sessions where we’ll brainstorm new ideas and strategize how the PPL team can operationalize them.

Working intimately with our nonprofit clients, we understand the grind all too well and prioritize the need to take time away from work to avoid burnout! At Collectivity, work-life balance is a value and ensuring our team members don’t burnout is key to our success.
